spreaditround Apparently this show was severely undersold, only 13,000 ticket holders for 24,000 seat venue.

SET 1: Chalk Dust Torture: Smoked, the band declares intent to lay way waste to this legendary venue and oddly enough (lol, tongue in check) will never play Rupp Arena again.

Weigh: Ahhhhh Weigh, so tough to catch. This indicates they are locked in. >

Rift: Standard >

Guelah Papyrus: Standard.

Stash: Gets the job done and anchors the set.

Waste: Perfect placement, played very well.

Guyute: Another tough tune to play (Weigh, Guelah…) First of the tour, not seen since Red Rocks.

Free: Standard, 6h of the tour, yawn. >

Tela: First of the tour and not seen again until Darien next summer. Gorgeous.

Character Zero: 9th of the tour. And many, many more to come.

SET 2: Suzy Greenberg: Solid energy coming out of the break >

Bathtub Gin: Incredible, all-timer. Yet another example of how Phish began evolving into that whole band/groove centric/funk style of jamming after they covered Remain in Light on Halloween 10.31.96. This one has a super high energy, major chord jam for a good while. Trey trills it up in the 11’s, just amazing stuff in there. Once Trey jumps on the drum kit, this is Page’s jam to lead and he does a great job too. I LOVE where they get in the last few minutes of this jam, I bet everyone and their brother were thinking it would go into 2001, that would have been beyond epic. Incredible jam, one that has definitely stood the test of time ->

Hold Your Head Up > Bike > Hold Your Head Up: Tons of fun, Fish is such a ham.

You Enjoy Myself: Love the goofy jam that crops up here. All kinds of crazy stuff going on here. Trey is especially excited here as you here him give a big “Yeah!!!” Total funkfest! Trey goes on to shred the hell out of this one. Love, love, love this YEM! It is not charted, but should be?

ENCORE: Frankenstein: Standard.

Second set summary: Gin is all that and a bag of chips, one that has replay value all day long. Don’t sleep on this YEM, it is a ton of fun and is a multi-faceted talent show and should be charted.
