MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 461

Welcome to the 461st edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday, the third of April - thanks to MJM HoFer @Zands for today's clips! The winner will receive an MP3 download code courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the songs and dates of both mystery clips, which are connected by a theme. Each person gets one guess to start – if no one answers correctly in the first 24 hours, I'll post a hint. After the hint, everyone gets one more guess before Wednesday at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Stay safe!

Hint: Neither of these jams comes from "Makisupa Policeman" - in fact, neither of these jams comes from a show featuring "Makisupa Policeman." One of these jams was played in 2.0; both of these jams were played in the summer.

Answer: Congrats to @experiencechuck on his fifth win, identifying two August 14th jams: 8/14/04 "Halley's Comet" and 8/14/96 "Wilson" -> "Jam." This week's win leaves him two short of the Hall of Fame - will he leapfrog @sumac22, will @sumac22 close it out, or will they both stumble on next week's most difficult challenge of the month? Swing by Monday for a shot at glory...

mcgrupp81 I know the 2nd jam. That show has some nice jams. Anxious to know the 1st jam origin just for the sound quality alone.

Wow... That first one was from Coventry? Really?? I even looked at some Coventry jams, but not that one. *facepalm*

Oh well. There's always next week! Nice work @experiencechuck.

experiencechuck Spent an hour on it yesterday and an hour today probably lol.. Normally I don’t bite quite quite so hard unless I recognize something more specifically but this one was so oddly captivating and I knew the obvious 2.0 clip made it doable. After the hint ruled Makisupa (I had also scanned through all of them in 2.0 already) I went back and noticed that Halley’s > Ya Mar while checking any jams that went in and out of Ya Mar and NICU.

After that I started on the next by cross checking the date, and usually it’s not so straightforward, but because this was a particularly hard one I was lucky that the thread between them was more obvious. As soon as I saw Wilson -> Jam -> DWD I remembered that was a great show with a crappy AUD and you could hear Mike starting to lay into the DWD effects, so I knew before I even listened (of course I checked anyway).

So, that's it. All of my darkest fears, and everything I'm capable of. That's me.

Nice work!! That Halley's wasn't even on the Jam Charts. I have exactly 0% chance if it isn't on the Jam Charts. Now that I heard that ->DWD, I could hear Mike's meatball starting up. I bow down!!

mcgrupp81 Coventry. I wish the experience getting in was as chill as that Halley's jam. Apocalypse traffic.

Was certain the first clip was from 2004 but damn I was lightyears off from the second.. I was perusing some post Ball Square Jams in 2011 for it.
