MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 414

Welcome to the 414th edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday, the final contest of April. Partly because I didn't leave myself enough time to prepare this week's puzzle in the traditional format, partly because it was fun the last time we did it, and partly because many of us are sheltering in place, we're going to switch up the format this week. That's right folks: this week, we'll be doing our second (I think?) MJM race! You may be asking yourself, "what the hell is an MJM race, brovid??". As you well should be. It's quite simple actually: at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET, I'll update the blahg with some clips. Instead of the selection of these clips being an exercise in sadism, and their identification being an act of masochism, the clips will all come from "well-known" jams. Some of these jams might be so well-known they've never been used as MJM clips in the past; others may be recycled from earlier MJMs - regardless, despite the subjective nature of labeling a jam "well-known," by the end of today, you best know these bad boys inside and out. First one to catch 'em all wins an MP3 download code courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. We're looking for songs and dates here folks, as usual.

I'm hoping that folks will respect the MJM unwritten rule of not throwing out half-correct answers (e.g. you know two of the clips but the other is a shot in the dark - there's a special place in MJM hell for these people, who have a 0% success rate and a 100% pissing-off-everyone-else rate), but as long as others don't even respond to those folks or confirm any of their correct guesses, they shouldn't undermine this contest too much. There may be hints this week, but hopefully they're not needed - if they are, they'll come throughout the day, not tomorrow at the 24 hour mark. This puzzle will be solved today. Or at least it better be. Good luck!

Answer: Congrats to @Dylman112 on his second win, solving the puzzle in 3 minutes - it's obvious folks are familiar with these jams, but I was sure the contest would last longer than the clips themselves! For those living under a rock, this week's jams were 2/28/03 "Tweezer," 11/14/95 "Stash," and 7/14/19 "Ruby Waves." Next week is for the n00bs in my area code: MJM415 drops Monday.

A_Buddhist_Prodigy I love how I still didn't get any of the well known jams. I really, really suck at this game.

serpent_deflector Damn it! The chase for #7 will continue for at least another couple weeks, probably. ;)
In fairness, I only had clips 1 & 3 for sure. Congrats!

PlayingMantis I frantically checked 11/14/95 stash for #2 on a whim and the gods were good to me.

Zands I had clip 2 and I knew the first one was a tweezer but somehow I haven't heard the Nassau Tweezer so I'm gonna fix that.

Ruby Waves I've heard like 6 times and I somehow still legitimately had no idea that clip 3 was that...

Legit great job on figuring that out, Dylman! :D

Ry_storm Forgot to set my alarm to be here for 5, dammit.

Wouldn't have gotten clip 2 anyways!

I was confused and thought it was going to be 1 second clips from a couple of all time jams, like the release of the NYE 93 Hood or something comparable. I remember the half second Went Gin clip that was nailed in like 15 minutes.

do you mean I should mix in races more frequently? always open to feedback - this is your blahg too (this is your blahg tooooooo)

do folks like the 10 am PT announcement of the race, or should I just drop it at 10 am PT and see what happens? (I figured for races showing up on time is yuge so having advanced warning day of is appreciated)

definitely go with the advanced warning. i thought the format for this one was perfect, even though i couldn't be here at 5pm ET.

my vote would be to do this format like 4 times a year. around that frequency. just for something different.
