HELPING FRIENDLY PODCAST: INTERVIEW WITH KATY TUR

[Post is from Phish.net user @swittersdc – ed.]

This week, the Helping Friendly Podcast is back with a very special interview with Katy Tur. As most of you know, she's known for her Phish banter on air, and probably better known as the host of MSNBC Live, which airs every weekday afternoon at 2 PM ET. She also sits in on MTP Daily and other NBC news programs.

We had a great conversation with Katy, that ranged from her favorite Phish tunes to a history of her fandom, and to her book, which comes out today, September 12, Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History. Order it now!

You can subscribe to the Helping Friendly Podcast on iTunes, or listen through the player below the jump. The HF Pod team is me, @mdphunk, @rowjimmy and @brad10s. Thanks for your support!

melt_the_tek9 Just listened to the entire podcast. Really a fun listen! Katy has a good heart and great spirit. Her stories are smart and super honest. Fun to hear her talk about her first show and introduction to the band's music, and how she started working Phish lyrics into her broadcasts. Thanks guys for interviewing her, y'all asked some thoughtful questions! Oh and the letter from Tom was really cool too!!

CariniCallini Great interview! Thanks guys. Best part for me was the reminder how great the studio versions are. Listened to BB again front to back for the first time in years. Great stuff.

humalupa I listened to most of it on my drive in this morning, and will finish it up in a few minutes. One thing I was reminded of: She doesn't seem too much into the memorization of stats, setlists, obscurities and the like. However, her glee and exuberance regarding the band, their music and the scene cannot be denied. I think it's a nice reminder that the level of one's fandom and love for this special thing shouldn't always be measured by show count, trivia-level, etc., and one that all of us, myself included, might do well to occasionally remind ourselves of that.
