MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 291

Welcome to the 291st edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday, the second and second-easiest of September, and our first double-double (animal style) since the 18 year anniversary of the Camden CDT. The winner will receive an MP3 download code courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the song and date of both mystery clips. Each person gets one guess to start – if no one guesses correctly, I will post a hint on Tuesday around 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET, after which each person gets one more guess before I reveal the correct answer on Wednesday. Good luck!

Answer: Congrats to first-time winner @prab_mode on winning this week's MJM – he realized that the picture of koi, Japanese fish, likely indicated that this week's theme was... Japanese Phish. With that in mind, he quickly identified the 6/15/00 "Down With Disease" and the 7/30/99 "Stash," both fantastic jams in their own right. I love the commentary on the blog this week – good stuff. And I'm glad folks realize that the primary objective of the MJM is to introduce you or remind you of awesome Phish jams – the game and the code are just the icing on the cake. In the spirit of sharing awesome jams with each other, I've put my FLAC copy of the 6/15/00 DSBD + AUD matrix – from the band's mix, straight to DAT – right here (the FOB from that night sounds fantastic too). See you Monday for MJM292?

justino Nice jams! That is all I have to say.

TwiceBitten I know I have heard clip 1 before, and relatively recently. Clip 2 is some fantastic music that I'm also sure I've heard before but I sure wish I knew what it was cause that is my kinda jam right there!

MiguelSanchez I'm in the same boat as @twicebitten. I know I've heard the 1st one a lot, but I can't spot. I'm loving both of these though.

mcgrupp81 Digging the jams this week! And generous with the clue you are.

prab_mode Here we go...(and thanks for the tip). I knew the first one, but couldn't place; tip helped narrow quickly.

Clip 1:
DWD - 6/15/00

Clip 2:
Stash - 7/30/99

This week's mjm has influenced my listening efforts for the many days to come.

Coleman_ Oh, because Koi are Japanese Phish! Both shows take place in Japan. Down With Disease - 6/15/00 and Stash - 7/30/99. Nicely done.

TwiceBitten Somehow I knew clip 2 was from Japan but I forgot to check 99. Thought clip 1 was Europe. That 7/30/99 show has a seriously amazing Ghost that is little heralded

I knew the hint guided us to a Japan show, but don't have the luxury of time while at work for proper research. So just started listening to the 7/30 Ghost because I am in agreement it packs some heat.

ChalkDustTeacher I thought these had a 99-00 flavour but I was worried the nod to 7/10/99 was just clouding my judgement. Good to know my instincts were right. Didn't have time to search but I did listen to a couple of summer '99 shows over the last 24 hours that I don't know too well in hopes of getting lucky. By the time I saw the hint it was already too late. Still a win to become more familiar with lesser known shows of this era! Have been alternating between 2017 and 99-00 a lot recently in my listening.

mcgrupp81 When I think of shows I wish I could have attended, Europe Summer 97 always comes to mind as do some of these Japan shows. Distant lands+Great Phish is an excellent combo. If you don't have it already, you should pick up a copy of the Bittersweet Hotel DVD. Gives a little taste of the Europe adventure. Blaze on bitches.

melt_the_tek9 I knew the second clip was a Stash immediately, that was all.

Y'all are too impressive with finding these clips that's all I know

PhreePhish Knew the 6/15/00 DWD right off the bat. I had a good SBD of that show on CD a few months after it happened and got a LOT of trading mileage out of it. Let someone borrow it some time ago and never got it back. *Sigh.*

Great show-- and one of the most unique YEM vocal jams ever. Give it a listen!

Tuna_Belly Nicely done! I was scraping the barrel of 2000s Japan trying to find that second clip. Forgot about the shows in '99!
