MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 277

Welcome to the 277th edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday, the first* and easiest of June. The winner will receive two MP3 download codes courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the song and date of the mystery clip. Each person gets one guess to start – if no one guesses correctly, I will post a hint on Tuesday, after which each person gets one more guess before I reveal the correct answer on Wednesday around 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Good luck!

*REMINDER: As with every first MJM of the month now, only folks who have never won an MJM are allowed to answer before the hint. If you have never won an MJM, please answer as a blog comment below. If you have previously won an MJM and you'd like to submit a guess before the hint, you may do so by PMing me – if no one has answered correctly by the time I'm ready to post the hint, the first correct answer submitted by PM will be awarded the win. If you're not sure if you've won before, look in the MJM Results spreadsheet linked below.

Hint: No hint needed. The answer and winner will soon be revealed.

Answer: For the third time in the past three months, the eighth time since I took over as host, and for the thirteenth time overall – yep, that makes a Baker's Dozen! – we have another MJMer enter the Hall of Fame Emeritus class: @PhreePhish. Please join me in congratulating him! In identifying the 7/25/99 Birds of a Feather, he not only wins two codes this week, but he also gets a copy of the key to the vault, he gets added to the band's iMessage group text, he gets to help pick future MJMs, and he never has to waste another Monday chasing after a $9.99 LP code. Nice work! See y'all next week, when we double dip with a double clip and a theme for MJM278.

Yeah...that was a real wormhole.

On my first listen, I thought it was something between late 97-2000. When I saw your post, I decided I was wrong and listened to all the big jams from your shows. I might complain about this, but this was a great day of listening to some great 2.0 and 3. 0 jams.

mcgrupp81 Imagine being in that crowd hearing them transition into Whipping Post from My Left Toe. I know I would have been going ape shit ballistic.
, comment by Squirrel
Squirrel Well at least I was right that I was there. Possibly my favorite from that summer.

PhreePhish Thank you so much @uctweezer and others for everything! I've had so much fun doing this!

First off, I can't believe no one could find the 7/25/99 Birds. It was during one of my personal favorite years and weeks of Phish. The hint of course would have been that it was during the last show that Phish covered the Allman Bros Band with the huge Whipping Post out of My Left Toe. Fare thee well Greg Allman.

On a weird sidenote, I attended the shows before this one (Alpine Valley with the HUGE Fluffhead jam) and after. I must have had a weird work schedule or something. As an above poster mentioned, it was arguably the best show of the summer.

I started doing MJM's back in 2012 or so after being a big tape trader back in the day and had Mondays off. I won five quickly and really didn't care after that until I learned of the "Emeritus Status" late last year. I absolutely loved the multi-clip format after that. You have no idea how close I was on some of those!!

I have to thank @uctweezer and all the other contributors to MJM for this. For everyone else, as mentioned above, even if you don't win, you end up listening to a lot of great shows and jams you might not normally know. It's a good thing.

So thanks everone. I will still keep on eye on MJM and make comments here and there. Don't forget to donate to the Mockingbird Foundation everyone!

Take care all and pm if you're going to the Chicago shows!
