MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 130

Welcome to the 130th installment of the Mystery Jam here at Phish.net. As usual we will be playing for an MP3 download, courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. The rules haven't changed: you need to correctly identify the song and the date to win. Post your guess in the comments. One guess per person per day (with the second “day” starting after I post the hint). A hint will be posted on Tuesday (if necessary) and the answer will be posted on Wednesday. Good luck...

Wednesday Answer: Congrats to docgonzo for being the "first" to get the 12/28/12 "Tweezer" with his first guess. It may be winning on a technicality, but it's winning just the same. The Blog will be back on Monday with another (most difficult) Mystery Jam...

waxbanks interesting how all you need to place the year of this clip is a single note of mike's bass. but then, it's hard to imagine trey laying back and letting things mutate this way at any other time in their career -- he steps back into full participation instead of saying 'ok i'm in the background.' this is a gorgeous jam!

i'm not sure how to rank years anymore (thank heavens), but i'd certainly stack the best of 2012 up against anything post-1997.

it's so nice to hear them orbiting a lively planet, for gravity to pull them toward melodic expression and polyvalence rather than the gas giant of the late 90s or the fearful sludge of '2.0.'

Ejm242 Tweezer 12/28/12. Just listened a couple weeks ago. Damn!

Satansdogs23 Damn knew I recognized this. Almost sounds like it could be a Bathtub Gin at one point.

So true. When Trey controls his patience, and his anxious tendencies, beautiful things tend to happen.

kipmat Btw, this makes 10 Tweezer mystery jams (so far). Double digits! Bathtub Gin is in second place with 7, and I have a seven-way tie for third.

What's even more remarkable is how many more Tweezers are out there that could be sources for Mystery Jams. One could say that we've only examined the tip of the Tweezer iceberg.
