andrewrose Was hyping this Gin just this week on the board..

Speaking of the Bathtub Gin jamming chart, how in Icculus's name is 7/21/97 omitted?

turquOiseMountain Yes, indeed. Third show. Best experience of my young life up to that point.

nichobert Some of the omissions are nuts. 6/16/00 Jim *isnt even LISTED* on the jam chart for that song and it's one of the top 5 jams of 2000 and probably the 3rd best version of the song. Not seeing it on there is jarring. It's like if a Ya Mar chart didn't have 12/13/97

I saw your show comments on this one and very much agree with your statements!

Anyway, as far a Jam Chart omissions- it is a pretty tedious and exhausting process going through every single version of often played songs. Easy to think that either a worthy version was accidentally omitted or a simple difference of opinion.

In any event, you can click 'Show Introduction' link on the chart to see who compiled it, I'm sure they'd love feedback.

Also from the notes:

If you believe this chart should be appended with a particular version, please post about WHY you feel that way in the Phish.net Forum (addressing it to @Icculus), including the version's time, and what Notes that you'd give it, or simply email this information to charlie @ phish.net.

Oh yeah I'm sure it's an accidental omission..hadn't got around to sending an official note in.

MiguelSanchez I just plugged the anniversary of this run. This sits neck and neck w/ the Lexington 96 version for best gin I've seen. Gin being one of my top 3 favorite phish songs, you know, I hold this one in pretty high regard. It was one of those 25 min jams that felting it lasted about 10 min's. Nice vid!!

MiguelSanchez Felt like it lasted 10mins, not felting... Damn iPhone!

nichobert "Easy to think that either a worthy version was accidentally omitted or a simple difference of opinion."

No doubt..I guess for certain songs like Jim though, there are probably only a dozen or so "Jammed Out" versions, and one that was conceivably the best and most unique jams they played in an entire year seems like it would leap out on a list like that.

IMO, the first tier of the Jim Canon is 6/15/95, 12/31/95, 7/31/97, 11/29/97, 8/11/98, 6/16/00, 7/3/00.

In the case of a lot of songs, the handful of longest versions would seem lazy..but Jim is one of those songs where they seem to only blow it out when they're feeling incredibly confident. 12/29/94 probably deserves a slot on Rung One as well for being the only (one of two maybe?) real Jim-> Foam in a sea of Jim> Foams and Jim,Foams.

Nice to see 6/16/00 got added. I'll throw 12/29/94 Jim-> Foam and the Bethel 2011 Jim with extended plinko "bridge jam" for other extremely worthies.

And yes i know i could e-mail

fontcow I was at this show and not only is this the best "Bathtub Gin" I've ever heard live or recording-wise but these 23+ minutes are the peak moment in my live Phish show experiences. Absolute transcendent brilliance! I wish the band would officially release this show as an archival release...
