Review by NoFIller

NoFIller Just a quick note, this was originally supposed to be a Trey Trio show (Trey, Tony, Russ) as had been the lineup earlier in the year for the Jazzfest shows (do check out those Civic Theater NOLA shows from April. They absolutely smoke and are chock full of extended spacious Trey-heavy jamming and unique setlists). It was announced close to the show date that Ray would perform with the band. This was Ray's first show back with TAB after undergoing surgery and treatment for a brain tumor earlier in the year. Pretty insanely hot this day under the tent at the Charlottesville Pavilion. Pretty much humid as hell, mid-summer Virginia swelter, and zero breeze of any kind. The crowd and the band was visually and audibly stoked to see Ray back on stage. Trey and Ray had many stellar moments during show playing off of each other, and it was evident that Trey was quite pleased to have his dynamic partner back on stage. I haven't respun this show since that night, but I remember the Jibboo and Camel Walk being particularly funked out and spicy.
